Alumna 2013, Bachelor Program – Fashion DesignYes, you saw right, 3D printing technology meets American Football, equals contemporary fashion – Anna Wilhelmi makes it happen! Wilhelmi is an upcoming fashion designer from Berlin who uses 3D printing technology in a new way to visualize her fashion diploma collection. Wilhelmi presents an interseasonal women sports chic collection including leather skirts over hot pants, knitted pants underneath coats. Every piece is made of high quality material like alpaca wool, leather and a touch of the future. The accessories and body armour were printed using the latest Selective Laser Sintering technology, which makes them as light as plastic and tough as hell. The collection is a wild remix of macho toughness clashing with filigree feminine look. After graduation Wilhelmi went on directly to be a designer competing the Galaxy Fashion Force competition. She has also been asked as a guest designer to design a series of shoes for 3D Shoes, and will in June take a place in the design department at Adidas. She is also writing for various fashion brands.

Alumna 2012, Masters Programme – Sustainability in FashionDaniela Franceschini was born in Málaga, Southern Spain with Italian and Swedish origins. Daniela completed her Bachelor of Fashion Design at the European Design Institute, Madrid in 2010. In addition to interning with Spanish designer Elena Benarroch, she has also worked in costume design for advertising. Her womens collection of recycled fur has been exhibited in Madrid, Seville, and Florence. This collection is an expression of the skills and craftsmanship of workers in the New SADLE NGO in Nepal, embodying quality, transparency and timelessness. My mission is to slow down the fashion industry based on the social aspect of sustainability focusing on transparency and innovative design strategies.
This project comes from a reflection about the current luxury market. Luxury brands, created in the twentieth century, were born under specific circumstances of the society at that time. Now these brands are working by mixing their tradition with innovation in order to keep their values and to survive, but what about the start up brands? What does society demand from the luxury market now? Do we need more clothes? My vision is to create a market for the original and special social production of craftsmanship, by facilitating a better quality of life and growth to the Nepalese communities. While at the same time meeting consumer demands for more sustainable design.

The shoes for Daniela’s presentation is sponsored by Design By Me and Arielle de Pinto.
